Round 15 + 16 - Road America

So, this coming Sunday is the Road America events. How's everyone feeling around this near-4 mile track?

at the moment personally, i have gotten a 620hp Vette down to a 2:05.910 (with max downforce). i am sure to be doing more testing this week before Sunday

Haven't tested just yet but will be doing so like mad as soon as I can.

I haven't had chance to test yet. I'm going to have a busy week a head of me so it'll probably be the end of the week before I can test around Road America.

..well, i just tried to tweek it slightly, and found that the front aero is at default and the rear at Max. my memory stinks. what i did manage to do though was able to tweek the rear suspension a tiny bit to assist in trottle pick-up past the apex of the corners. and that sweeping right hander is going to have to be a patient one. best lap time thus far? 2:05.887, and sure to improve on that come race time. i always seem to be faster come the time of the race than in practice or Qualy.

..i've asked AJ about using a 'Home' livery, and this lil livery didnt have a numberbox on the hood (just the number), but now i realize im probably the only US-bred driver within our GT3 team, i was dreaming to use this at some point, cuz of the #3.

good news. i knocked off roughly a 1/2 second off that 2:05.887 at Road America by dropping HP and weight. instead of 620hp, the vette is no carrying 578. this free'd up alot of room in the grip department to get the vette to down to a 2:05.384 (dirty 2:05.361 on the lap prior, dirtied by the lap previous to that one). If you'd like to try it out, Dan and Y22, i can send it out to you

edit: i just tried out the Bugatti tune just to see what a stock 505hp build could do, and with some quick tweeks (default gears, default downforce) and it put down a 2:05.650

So would you say grip was more important than power round here coz i went for a pure power build an i cant get out of the 2.08's.

I guess im saying 620hp was too much for the Vette to get through the corners quickly. I will try out your Porka tonight crisis

I've just gone around in 2:05.613

Its basically the same car I used around Laguna but I've reduced the downforce and increased the gear ratios slightly. It really is easy to drive around road america. But I'm going to have a go with a power build when I get chance; see if thats any quicker or not.

ive got my times down to the mid 2.06's
ive turned traction control off for this one as i think it really hampers you on the exit of the corners

Hey Crisis. im sure you'll want this setup for your Porka at Road America. i went and swapped out the OEM engine for the 997 GT2 Flat-6, and with some supporting mods to keep it at S670, i got this 997 GT3 RS down to a 2:05.828. i have no wheelspin with this tune, even without any assists. and whats nice, its only maybe 1 or 2mph off my 578hp vette's top speed on some of the straights (the straight between turns 1 & 2, and the Right-Left before the Sweeper, the Porka gcan reach the same speeds as my vette). i will send it over to you now, that way you can try it out ASAP.

...crud. i thought my 2:05.3 was fast for Road America until VVV Slim just posted a low 2:04 in the timing board over on the tora forum. looks like im spending the day working on a faster build.

edit: ok, after an hour of trying different power and grip builds, i have only managed to find another 3-tenths, and got a tune saved where i hit a 2:05.140. i lost about .1 through the final couple corners. had green for a 2:05.0xx. i think there's a slight chance that i will be able to break into the 2:04's with this new tune come race time. But, my gripe with these leaderboard cars is rearing its ugly head again. First was the Gallardo, now the 997 GT3 RS. they are stupidly strong dominating cars in A class (regardless if its a RWD or not) lobbies, so it comes as no surprise to me that they are damn fast in S class. i need to go break sumthin. or drink...
